British Columbia-hailing singer-songwriter/producer Maddie Jay has announced her upcoming new album and shared the single "Chemical."

I Can Change Your Mind is set for release on January 10 through Real Canadian Cheddar. It follows the artist's 2021 EP, CMYK, and includes recent singles "I'm the Leader" and "Name Your Price."

"I wrote many of these songs over improvised tape loops that I recorded with my dear friends in hazy late night studio sessions," Jay explained in a release. "I wanted to create a sonic bed that felt organic, nostalgic, immersive and emotionally cathartic. Working outside of solitude was a challenge for me, however I feel the end result resonates much stronger than something I would have created alone, which is probably a lesson in itself."

The spectral new single "feels like smoking a little bit too much weed when you were already anxious and laying on top of your covers with a light breeze coming in through and having an absolute internal meltdown," she added. "It's about the pain of simply existing and trying to rationalize why it's all so intense and confusing by labeling everything as a chemical and disconnecting from the emotional side of things. This song was a collaboration with a few friends, we wrote the Radiohead/Aphex Twin type outro very late in the studio one night and immediately knew we had something special."
