Lil Uzi Vert Ghosted Grimes

She was supposed to produce an EP for the rapper — but he never downloaded her beats

Leading up to the release of Miss Anthropocene, Grimes appeared on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show to chat about the themes on the record including utopianism, the goddess of climate change, technology and how that amounts to making "super bummer" music.

Further into the interview, Lowe and Grimes riffed on their favourite artists of the year, when Grimes revealed that she had planned to work Lowe's pick for G.O.A.T. Lil Uzi Vert on an EP — but he never bothered to download her beats.

He asked me to produce an EP for him once, and then I sent him the WeTransfer and he never downloaded it. And I was like, "Dude, I spent two weeks on this." It hurt my feelings. I think "Darkseid" is from that session. That's how I, like, have all these weird rap beats. It's good when you can see when they don't download it because then you can like…Get mad at them. He hasn't done my manager and I see it. There's one day left or whatever to download. Your files have not been downloaded yet.

Grimes also made time in the interview to praise Post Malone, Doja Cat and Rosalía — and to talk about her boyfriend's new Cybertruck.

Watch an abbreviated version of that interview below.

Miss Anthropocene arrives February 21 via 4AD.
