Grimes has been talking about her new album(s) for a while now, and her LP finally has a title. The Canadian pop experimentalist has revealed that the album will be called Miss_Anthropocene, and she has shared more details about the forthcoming collection.
In an Instagram post, Grimes revealed that Miss_Anthropocene is a play on the words misanthrope (someone who dislikes humanity) and Anthropocene (the current geological time period during which humans have begun having an impact on the environment).
She wrote, "It's a concept album about the anthropomorphic Goddess of climate Change: A psychedelic, space-dwelling demon/ beauty-Queen who relishes the end of the world. She's composed of Ivory and Oil."
The recent AI-themed single "We Appreciate Power" will be the opening track on the album. According to Grimes, "Each song will be a different embodiment of human extinction as depicted through a Pop star Demonology." She described the album as "ethereal nu metal (ish)."
Prior to the album, Grimes may release either an EP or a few singles of "synth-based stuff," in contrast to the nu-metal of the album.
There's still no work on when exactly Miss_Anthropocene will land. Read Grimes's full post below.
