Les Louanges — the moniker of Montreal singer-songwriter Vincent Roberge — has linked up with French rapper Ichon for new single "Sur la mélodie."

This marks Roberge's first release since his sophomore album Crash, one of Exclaim!'s 50 best of 2022, came out last January.

"Working with another singer-songwriter is a challenge for me because I rarely do it," Roberge said in a press release. "It's also really fun because it allows me to get out of my comfort zone. It's interesting to see this combination unfold, especially with Ichon coming from rap and having to get into a different genre. In terms of lyrics, I find that both of our universes blend well, and that kind of collaboration allows me to open my ears to a new musical world."

The new single reveals a strong influence from Afrobeats and more strikingly electronic production than the new wave-driven sound of Crash, which is up for Francophone Album of the Year at the JUNO Awards.

Mostly produced by Roberge in Paris, Ichon came on board after being seduced by the song's beat. Eschewing the typical guest-verse format, the rapper trades lines with Roberge as they come together to create an infectiously danceable anthem for blocking out the noise, trusting your instincts and pursuing your passion.
