After taking place virtually last year, Newfoundland's Lawnya Vawnya has returned with plans for an in-person event later this summer.
The 2021 edition of Lawnya Vawnya will take place from August 25 to 28 in downtown St. John's. This year's festival will feature live performances by Backxwash, DijahSB, DJ Shub, Century Egg, Cluttered, Cots, Kim Harris and Pillea.
The festival will also include performances by an extensive roster of Newfoundland artists, including Albert Dalton, Atomic Clock, Bus People, Call Back, Catalina Reapers, CLEO LEIGH, CUERPOS, Despertá, Fog Lake, gaze lake, Ife Alaba, Kelly McMichael, Mirror Dice, Property, Salem Creeps, the Rangers, Wiremouth and Wite Rino.
Additionally, Lawnya Vawnya will showcase readings by Cree writer Michelle Good of British Columbia, as well as local writers Jason Wells, Kira Sheppard, Lynette Adams and Megan Gail Coles.
The fest will also host panel discussions, workshops, artist talks, a record and press fair, pop-up shows and a downtown music crawl.
In keeping with COVID safety guidelines, all venues will be operating at reduced capacity throughout the festival.
