Following a series of summer jazz festival performances, soul and hip-hop icon Lauryn Hill has announced she's coming back to Canada on an upcoming fall North American tour.
Hill's concert schedule for 2016 was recently fleshed out to include a series of dates between August and November. While these begin in the U.S., the singer-songwriter will make it up to Toronto's Massey Hall on September 16. Following more U.S. performances, she heads to Vancouver's Queen Elizabeth Theatre on November 8. She had performed at the same venue this past June, as part of the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival.
The tour route also finds Hill revisiting Atlanta's Chastain Park, where she had been criticized earlier this year for starting a concert two hours late. Hill expressed "regret" over the incident, but explained in a letter how difficult it is for an artist to take "something that isn't easily classified or contained, and [try] to make it available for others."
"I don't have an on/off switch," she wrote. "I am at my best when I am open, rested, sensitive and liberated to express myself as truthfully as possible."
