On January 19, k.d. lang's original label, Bumstead Records, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of her 1984 debut album A Truly Western Experience with an expanded, digitally remastered re-issue. The two-disc package will include live versions and demos, rare and unreleased songs and videos, all from between 1983 and 1985.

Due to territorial rights limitations, however, Bumstead cannot release the album in Canada, making it a U.S.-only affair. Not leave Canadian fans completely out in the cold, the label is offering a digital download of the Friday Dance Promenade EP, featuring six rare or previously unreleased songs that are included in the 25th Anniversary Edition.

In related news, one Canadian legend will honour another when Lang performs at the MusiCares gala to honour Neil Young's MusiCares Person of the Year Award. The gala, scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on January 29, will also feature Crosby Stills & Nash, Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, Wilco and others. According to Lang's website, "proceeds from the annual Person of the Year tribute support MusiCares, which helps music people in times of financial, medical and personal need."
