Ontario folk rocker Kalle Mattson has made a bit of a splash with his recent sweeping album Someday, the Moon Will Be Gold, which was long-listed for the Polaris Music Prize. Now, the songwriter has inked a record deal for the re-release of that album as he prepares to hit the road.
The outing is a fairly hefty one, since it runs from early September until late October. All of the shows are in Canada; Mattson will start in Ontario, head west as far as Vancouver Island, then make his way back east all the way to the Maritimes.
The Atlantic Canadian dates are with the Wooden Sky, while a few of the Ontario shows in early October are with CBC's Vinyl Cafe tour.
As for the record deal, Mattson has signed with HOME Music Co. and is working on recorded three new tunes with Marcus Paquin (Arcade Fire, the National) in Montreal. The tunes will appear on the album's re-release this fall.
