John Carpenter will share new album Lost Themes III: Alive After Death come the end of next week, and the horror master has unveiled in a new interview that his release catalogue would not be complete without a Babymetal collaboration.
Speaking with Kerrang!, Carpenter was asked about his musical tastes at the heavier end of the sonic spectrum, and shared that the Japanese kawaii metal duo are among his modern favourites.
"I am a fan. I love Metallica," Carpenter said of the genre. "But you know, my life will be complete if I get endorsed by the Japanese group Babymetal. I love them! They're so fabulous."
Carpenter has been riding for Babymetal after first being introduced to the band by son and collaborator Cody Carpenter in 2017. "Their shows are fabulous," he told Decibel that year. "My son is obsessed with all things Japanese, so he showed me Babymetal and I couldn't believe it. They're awesome. What a great idea!"
Carpenter's Lost Themes III: Alive After Death arrives February 5 through Sacred Bones. Recently, his Escape from New York soundtrack was treated to a new vinyl reissue by Waxwork Records, and you can read Exclaim!'s review here.
Babymetal's most recent full-length album remains 2019's Metal Galaxy. Last year, they appeared on Bring Me the Horizon's Post Human: Survival Horror EP.
