The tease has now been confirmed: John Frusciante and Venetian Snares (Aaron Funk) have returned as Speed Dealer Moms, with a 12-inch titled "Birth Control Pill" due out May 10 through Evar Records.
According to a press release, "The epic title cut is perhaps the most 'functional' track" Speed Dealer Moms have ever made, also featuring "the requisite descent into chaos."
The B-side is "Benakis," and it's said to feature "unconventional time signature and intricate scintillating melodies."
The timestamps are helpfully printed on the cover artwork. Each track is around nine minutes long.
This iteration of Speed Dealer Moms is a duo, and doesn't feature frequent collaborator Chris McDonald. This is Frusciante's first electronic release since his ambient solo album last year.
"Birth Control Pill" is pressed on grey and purple wax and is available to pre-order from Bandcamp.
Meanwhile, Frusciante will spend this summer on the road with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, including a pair of Toronto shows.
