John Frusciante is teasing a new side-project, as it appears that he teamed up with Aaron Funk of Venetian Snares for an upcoming release.
Evar Records, the record label run by Frusciante's romantic partner Marcia Pinna (a.k.a. DJ/producer Aura T-09), posted an Instagram story yesterday (March 28) showing Frusciante and Funk's faces Photoshopped onto cats.
The caption reads, "big announcement next week..."
Frusciante and Funk previously collaborated under the name Speed Dealer Moms, releasing 12-inches in 2010 and 2021, respectively. Those releases also featured Chris McDonald as the third member, although he doesn't seem to be part of this. It's not clear if the upcoming announcement is from Speed Dealer Moms, or if it's a new project entirely.
Meanwhile, Frusciante has upcoming tour dates with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, including two Toronto shows.
