On the tail-end (no pun intended) of a cross-Canada dog park tour, Yukon folk artist Joey O'Neil has shared a cover of The Littlest Hobo theme song "Maybe Tomorrow" — filmed entirely by her dog, Oblio.
The video shows O'Neil singing as Oblio — who she lovingly refers to as her "cinemadographer" — takes in the mountain range.
"I made my dog a make-shift GoPro harness out of her anxiety vest," O'Neil explained. "The trouble was, while filming in a place as beautiful as Tombstone Territorial Park, her attention was not on me. I was constantly diving in front of her to pose casually and lip-sync in the lichen... She would quickly turn away, preferring to look at the majestic mountains."
The cover of "Maybe Tomorrow" originally appeared on O'Neil's 2020 album Ever Ahead. "Instead of struggling to write a song as great as 'Maybe Tomorrow,' I decided to honour Terry Bush's theme from The Littlest Hobo with my own version. There didn't seem to be many covers of this song that expressed its lonely wandering," she said.
