Jhené Aiko Preps 'Souled Out' Album for May Release

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jan 10, 2014

In 2013, R&B singer Jhené Aiko made star-grabbing appearances on Drake's "From Time" and Big Sean's "Beware," but her Sail Out EP failed to capitalize on the hype. Now, she's announced plans to release her debut album this spring.

The album is called Souled Out — a title that makes it seem like a companion piece to Sail Out — and it's slated to arrive in May through ARTium/Def Jam.

In a video interview with Vibe, she explained that her favourite song from Sail Out is "Comfort Inn Ending," so the full-length will contain more songs in a similarly "raw" and "honest" vein. Her daughter Namiko Love appears on a song called "Promises," which she says is her favourite track from the new album.

Souled Out will be preceded a single, plus some more visuals from Sail Out. Watch the interview below.
