As his xx bandmates — Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft — pursue their respective solo projects, In Colour mastermind Jamie xx has emerged from the ether to share new single "Kill Dem" via Young.
Written with Notting Hill Carnival in mind, the artist born James Thomas Smith found inspiration in reflecting upon the parties he attended there as a teenager. The track premiered officially earlier today via BBC Radio 1's Hottest Record in the World after the producer first shared it live at Carnival last month.
It's the latest in a string of one-off releases from the producer, who has yet to announce a follow-up to his acclaimed 2015 solo album. In 2020, he revealed that he will "undoubtedly [release] an album at some point," adding, however, "that's a little way off yet."
Earlier this year, he released "LET'S DO IT AGAIN," his first new material in two years.
