Hear the Week's Best New Canadian Music: Caribou, the Weather Station, Shad, Jonah Yano

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished Oct 4, 2024

October has returned to us, just like Adam Gontier to Three Days Grace. As is seasonally predicted, the fruits of this week's harvest of the best new Canadian music are indeed bountiful.

The wind has blown the Weather Station back with news of a new album and its lovely lead single "Neon Signs," while Shad teams up with 14KT for a project called Reel Speakers.

This week in album releases, there's the undeniable new Caribou record, as well as the Clairo-featuring collection from Jonah Yano. Devarrow, Les Hay Babies and Godspeed You! Black Emperor have also released new LPs, while Ada Lea and Pressure Pin deliver short kings with new EPs.

Elsewhere, Beverly Glenn-Copeland joins forces with Sam Smith, La Force lands in Exclaim!'s Staff Picks with "protection" from her deluxe expansion of 2023's XO SKELETON, and Allie X is likewise deluxe-ifying this year's Girl with No Face. Meanwhile, Maya Malkin, Ruby Singh, Basia Bulat, Maddie Jay and Jon Harris all preview new albums to come.

Find songs to one day fill you with as much cozy nostalgia as your umpteenth Gilmore Girls rewatch with The Eh! List below, presented by Mary Brown's Chicken — all Canadian and proud of it!
