Festival organizers have announced plans to officially cancel Hillside's 2020 event in keeping with public health recommendations surrounding COVID-19. Guelph's annual environmentally-conscious music festival will no longer take place this summer, after organizers made the tough call to postpone the event until 2021.

"Never in our lives have we understood that gathering could have such dire consequences for our loved ones, our community, for all of humanity," organizers wrote in a statement. "The highlights of any Hillside — live bands, the press of happy bodies, dancing, singing, jamming in a drum circle, hugging, holding hands, rolling in the grass with friends — these could be the very things that may undo us right now. "

The festival was scheduled to take place this summer from July 24 to 25, but will now resume in 2021, from July 23 to 25 at Guelph Lake Conservation Area.

All tickets for this year's festival will be honoured for Hillside's 2021 edition. Ticketholders can also opt for a full refund or choose to donate all or a portion of their ticket to help keep the festival afloat. More details can be found at HIllside's website.
