All the way back in 2017, when very few people knew who Gracie Abrams was (aside from being J.J. Abrams's daughter), she posted a 20-second snippet of a song called "Close to You" on Instagram. Flash forward to 2024 and she's gearing up to release her sophomore album, The Secret of Us, later this month and open for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Vancouver come December. Oh, yeah — and that song snippet has spent months being a viral sound on TikTok.

Today, Abrams has released a full-length studio recording of "Close to You," at long last for those of us who have heard the pop song's fervid hook — "Pull the trigger on the gun I gave you when we met / I wanna be close to you" — ad nauseam on the clock app.

"After seven years of sitting with the 'Close to You' demo, it finally felt right to rework and include on this album," the singer-songwriter said in a statement. "I'm really grateful for the encouragement from everyone online who let me know they still want to hear [the] song after all this time — it makes me want to dance with them, and I can't wait till we get to do that."

Enjoy the satisfaction of getting to hear the full studio recording of the track below.
