After months of detailed play-by-play, we finally have a due date for the Flaming Lips' long-awaited Embryonic. According to the Pitchfork crew, the record is due out October 13 via Warner Bros., with the above image indeed serving as album art. Yes, we're pumped about that cover, too.
Unfortunately, that's all we're getting as far as firm details go. However, we've heard tons about the record so far. And even though none of this is officially confirmed, here's a recap:
- The album may be a double.
- It may sound "something like if John Lennon got together with Miles Davis and they discovered computers."
- It may feature Karen O, MGMT and a German mathematician.
- And it may be freakin' awesome.
We're sure that in the coming weeks all this and more will be sorted out. For now, you can get a little sneak peak of Embryonic below.
