Deftones' Chino Moreno Unveils New ††† (Crosses) Project

Though Deftones are still going full-force, frontman Chino Moreno has stepped away from the long-running group for a moment to work on his new band, ††† (Crosses). Earlier this year, the singer told Noisecreep that he had got together with Far guitarist Shaun Lopez and written some "minimal and soothing" tunes, saying, "It's sort of like the stuff I like listening to when I'm not screaming my head off." Well, now is his chance to show off his skills, as ††† have just unveiled their first release.

The electronic-minded debut five-song EP, †, is available now for the price of an email on the duo's site or down below, while they are also offering the set in a deluxe format for $5. The pay version will hook you up with copies of handwritten lyrics and higher quality downloads of the tunes.

Apparently, the ambient rock mini-collection is just a taste of what's to come. The band reportedly recorded upwards of 16 songs and NME reports that a full-length is in the works, which will feature Giant Drag vocalist Annie Hardy on a number or two. Whether you're a fan of Deftones or Moreno's previous side-venture, Team Sleep, the arrival of his new band is certain to stoke many.
