As hordes of spectators waited by the outdoor main stage for the Lil Uzi Vert headliner set that was not to be (despite earlier reports that the notoriously fickle rapper was in town, the festival later announced that he had been held up at customs), buzzed-about Brooklyn rock quartet Charly Bliss delivered their '90s rock vibes to a small but dedicated crowd at nearby dive Le Montecristo.

Kicking things off with "Westermarck" from last year's debut, Guppy, the band didn't let the empty venue get the best of them. Frontwoman Eva Hendricks mixed bubblegum pop vocals with energetic guitar riffs as she and her bandmates ripped through track after track from their new album. The live renditions retained the raw energy from the studio recordings, bolstered by live interplay and plenty of headbutting between Hendricks, guitarist Spencer Fox and bassist Dan Shure.

The set also included a pair of new tracks that continue the '90s vibes, but amp up the guitar solos. It's a sign of good things to come from a band whose buzz is only growing.
