Toronto-via-Sudbury trio Casper Skulls returned in 2024 following the birth of Melanie St. Pierre-Bednis and Neil Bednis's baby to preview their new era with "Spindletop." Now, they've detailed their new record, Kit-Cat, which is due to arrive on April 11 through Next Door Records. Today's news comes alongside lead single "Roddy Piper."
"I love the sound of when Julie Doiron and Rick White sing together and wanted to go for that sort of vibe, I find our band is strongest when Mel and I sing together and this is the first track in our catalogue where we sing the entire song together," Neil shared of the song.
Recorded at Deadpan Studios in February 2024, the 11-track album finds third member Fraser McClean taking on a multi-instrumentalist role, playing bass, guitar, keyboards, synths and violin across the record, while sharing songwriting responsibilities with Melanie and Bednis, who each contribute vocals and guitar/bass. Lonely Parade guitarist Augusta Veno also contributed to the album, with engineering by Matt Weiwel.
