Caribou's Dan Snaith has been tightly nestled in a cloud of new activity as of late: a couple new tracks, some festival appearances, a North American tour scheduled for the fall, and now, a pair of remix tracks reworking his latest, "Broke My Heart."
Snaith tapped producers Champion and Harry Hayes for the new mixes, the former delivering a dubby groove, the latter a euphoric club mix.
Here's what he had to say about both:
I knew Champion was going to smash it — he has been killing it for so long and never misses right now — but even that didn't prepare me for how huge this one has turned out. Ever since I started playing — even before the original version was out — people were always asking me about it... from my set at Coachella, at Under the K in Brooklyn, Four Tet's EDC Las Vegas Set, Jamie xx at Glastonbury... it's everywhere! i'm so glad to get it out in the world!
The original track had only been out in the world for two days when Harry Hayes — who I'm afraid I'd not heard of before — posted a clip of his remix of it with the "Artist leak ur unreleased music" on Instagram meme. It totally floored me! And even more so when I heard the whole thing. I've been playing it out since then and the reaction has been wild. One night I played it at a set in Amsterdam and it was kicking [off] and someone comes out of the crowd holding a phone... turns out they were a friend of Harry's and had him on video call... just waking up in Australia to this mad scene of his track being played... an amazing moment!!
Listen to both remixes below while we remain balanced on the edge of our seats waiting for more.
