Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion are still getting hate over "WAP," nearly one year after its release and over a month since the rapping duo performed the song live for the 63rd annual Grammy Awards. After Tucker Carlson dedicated an entire segment of his Fox News program to whine about Meg and Cardi's "perverse" performance, conservatives are now attempting to blame the Federal Communications Commission for the "moral decline of America."
U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman of Wisconsin took to the House floor this morning to describe the "WAP" duo's Grammy performance as "inconsistent with basic decency."
"I've received complaints in my office, and rightfully so, about Cardi B and the Grammys," Grothman said. "They wonder why we are paying the FCC if they feel that this should be in living rooms across the nation."
He added: "Wake up FCC and begin to do your job."
Cardi spared little time with her response, pointing to graver injustices in America — like widespread police brutality against Black people, for one example — as actual reasons for politicians to be upset.
"This gets me so mad ya don't even know!" Cardi wrote in a tweet. "I think we all been on the edge this week since we seen police brutality back to back including watching one of the biggest [cases] in history go down DUE to police brutality but wait! This is [what] state representative decide to talk about."
She added: "They giving seats to FUCKIN IDIOTS!! This is why people gotta vote, elect better people 'cause you got these dum asses representing states."
Earlier this month, it was reported that over 1,000 complaints about the performance were issued to the FCC, many of which compared Megan and Cardi's dancing to pornography. Following its broadcast, Carlson and his guest Candace Owens also took issue with the Grammys, and accused Cardi and Megan of "trying to degrade our culture and hurt our children."
