While Jared Leto of 30 Seconds to Mars has found success as both an actor and a musician, Atlas Sound/Deerhunter leader Bradford Cox has no discernible experience on the silver screen. Regardless of their differing levels of acting experience, the two will soon be appearing as romantic opposites in the upcoming film The Dallas Buyers Club.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that the film is set in the '80s and is based on the true story of Ron Woodroof (played by Matthew McConaughey), who is diagnosed with AIDS and given only a few months to live. The Texas electrician then turns to alternative drugs not approved by the FDA and also helps fellow AIDS sufferers to acquire the same drugs.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Leto's cross-dressing character is dying of AIDS, and Cox plays his lover. However, it's unclear exactly how big of a role the indie rocker will play.
The flick is being directed by Jean-Marc Vallee and also features Jennifer Garner, Griffin Dunne and Denis O'Hare. It is currently shooting in New Orleans.
There's no word as to exactly when it will be in cinemas, but IMDB lists the theatrical release as sometime in 2013.
