Following up his 2019 record Animated Violence Mild, Benjamin John Power's electronic project Blanck Mass has returned with plans for a fifth studio album titled In Ferneaux. The record will arrive through Sacred Bones on February 26.
According to a press release, the album "explores pain in motion, building audio-spatial chambers of experience and memory." Using his archive of field recordings, Blanck Mass recorded In Ferneaux in isolation throughout the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
The 41-minute record has only two tracks, "Phase I" and "Phase II," which are being billed a sonic "long-form journeys" that "gather the memories of being with now-distant others through the composition of a nostalgic travelogue."
Today, Power has shared a preview of the record in an edit titled "Starstuff." You can hear that down below.
