Vancouver's the Ballantynes are hosting a hometown record release party for their Liquor Store Gun Store Pawn Shop Church EP tonight (October 25) at the Astoria, and judging by the down-on-your-luck vid for the record's "No Love," the soul crew could stand to celebrate something for once.
Scored by the tambo-whapping, organ-juiced shuffler, we find frontman/guitarist Jarrod Odell getting dissed during a picnic date, vocalist Vanessa Dandurand flubbing a romantic Tarot card reading with Corey Poluk, and, worst of all, bassist Max Sample getting screwed over during a clandestine record sale by the train tracks.
Things eventually turn around for the crew as they all make their way to Felix Fung's Little Red Sounds studio for an intimate performance. You can see the crew shake and shimmy in the player down below.
While the band play a record release show tonight, Liquor Store Gun Store Pawn Shop Church arrives everywhere else October 29 through La-Ti-Da Records.
