Following the double single release of "Sweet Dream" and "Shapeshifter" this July, Brampton's Alessia Cara has announced her third album. In the Meantime is due September 24 via Universal.
The singer-songwriter made the announcement on Twitter yesterday (September 2), where she also took the time to share some of the inspiration behind the album's title and cover art.
According to Cara, the visual direction came from the idea of being in a fishbowl — a sense of seclusion and isolation that comes with both fame and, less glamorously, going through a global pandemic.
As the title suggests, In the Meantime will give the artist's fans an update on how she's been coping with everything.
"What I've been up to in the meantime, meantime between life & death," she wrote. "[L]ots of other symbolism I'll talk more about!"

Okay, consider us intrigued! Cara also recently told Exclaim! about her contribution to Metallica's Blacklist covers collection in celebration of the Black Album's 30th anniversary.
