Adele Didn't Recognize Shania Twain Because She Was Wearing a Hat

The Canadian attended the Brit's Las Vegas residency, unbeknownst to her

Future literary scholar and "Creep" apologist Adele was the true embodiment of her 30 track "Oh My God" when she discovered that Canadian country icon Shania Twain had attended one of her rescheduled Las Vegas residency shows.

Despite the relatively intimate size of the superstar Brit's concert series at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, which boasts a capacity of about 4,000, she didn't realize Twain had been in the room until after the fact — because she was wearing a hat, apparently.

"Thank god you had a hat on @shaniatwain I would have self combusted had I seen it was you!!" Adele gushed in an Instagram Story, capturing Twain in a flat-brimmed, Mountie-like hat, gazing fondly at Adele while she was walking through the audience mid-performance. "I adore you, I can't believe you came to my show."

Reposting Adele's story, Twain added, "Thank goodness we didn't make eye contact, all I can think of is the reaction of all those fans to @adele combusting halfway through the show." Yeah, that sounds messy.

She followed that post with her perspective of the moment. "POV you're having a magical time at @adele's Vegas show," a very social media trend-savvy Twain wrote atop a photo taken by the person sitting next to her in an Instagram Story of her own. (Though Adele would technically be considered the subject of the snap, Twain's hat is featured prominently.)

You could say she was impressed (much) by Adele's performance. Twain herself will perform on a massive 2023 tour, as well as at the People's Choice Awards in December, where she'll also be named Music Icon.
