Since every single movie will eventually get a remake, the next in line is Short Circuit.

Today it was confirmed that Spyglass Media Group will produce a remake of the beloved 1986 film. While details are still shaping up, the writing team of Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman are being brought onboard, who will put a Latinx twist on the screenplay, Deadline reports.

The original film was directed by John Badham and starred Ally Sheedy, Steve Guttenberg and Fisher Stevens. It centres on a robot named Number 5 — a.k.a. Johnny 5 — who gains some human-like intelligence after being struck by lightning.

Project X Entertainment's James Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak will produce with Rehab Entertainment's John W. Hyde executive producing alongside Terissa Kelton.

Like pretty much every new movie announcement these days, there's no word on when the Short Circuit remake could actually be released, so you're going to have to stay tuned.
