With new director Cary Fukunaga in place and Daniel Craig set to reprise his role as James Bond, all the upcoming 25th James Bond film needs is a villain — and Rami Malek has now confirmed that he'll take on the role.

While most of the cast and crew were livestreaming from Ian Fleming's home in Jamaica, the Oscar-winning Bohemian Rhapsody actor shared a video message from a black room in New York, promising, "I will be making sure Mr. Bond does not have an easy ride of it this, his 25th outing."

In addition to Malek, the cast has also welcomed newcomers Billy Magnussen, Dali Benssalah, Ana De Armas, David Dencik and Lashana Lynch.

Craig, meanwhile, will also be joined by returning players Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Léa Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Jeffrey Wright and Rory Kinnear. However, the upcoming film is said to mark the last time Craig will play Bond.

Filming has begun in Jamaica, with additional locations to include Norway, London and Italy.

The film has yet to be given an official title, and while plot details are still being kept closely under wraps, a press release did reveal the following synopsis: "The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond on to the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology."

While Fukunaga is set to direct, Scott Z. Burns helped with the script, as did Fleabag and Killing Eve creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Bond 25 is slated to hit theatres on April 8, 2020.
