Netflix has reportedly renewed The Umbrella Academy for a second season.

The show, based on the graphic novel by My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way, premiered earlier this month on the streaming service.

It tells the story of estranged superhero siblings, who reunite after the mysterious death of their father, and it stars Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, Robert Sheehan and Mary J. Blige.

According to Geeks WorldWide, the new season will go into production in Toronto later this year. The first season was filmed between Toronto and Hamilton.

Peter Hoar is slated to direct the first episode of Season 2; he also directed Season 1's pilot and Episode 10.

Netflix has yet to make an official announcement on the show's return.

In other Netflix news, the company officially announced that it would be launching a Toronto production hub. The timeline remains unclear, but it seems like The Umbrella Academy won't be the only Netflix original shooting in the city in the near future.
