Elliot Page will continue in his role as Vanya Hargreeves in upcoming episodes of The Umbrella Academy, Netflix has confirmed.
Additionally, the cisgender character will continue to be portrayed as such, according to Variety. Netflix is currently in the process of updating the series' credits to reflect Page's name change.
Yesterday (December 1) Page came out as transgender, announcing the news via social media in an open letter. He wrote: "I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life."
Netflix responded to the news on Twitter, congratulating Page on his announcement.
"So proud of our superhero! WE LOVE YOU ELLIOT! Can't wait to see you return in season 3," the streamer wrote.
The Umbrella Academy — which is based on the graphic novels by My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way and run by Steve Blackman and Jeremy Slater — was renewed for a third season in November.
Season 3 is slated to begin production in Toronto sometime in 2021 and will include 10 new episodes. Alongside Page, the series also stars Robert Sheehan, Tom Hopper, Aidan Gallagher, Justin M. Hin, Ritu Arya, Colm Feore, David Castañeda and Emmy Raver-Lampman.
