Time for fans of The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor to get excited, as Netflix has just released the first trailer for Midnight Mass, the latest horror series from Mike Flanagan.
Midnight Mass is set in a small, isolated community that's disrupted by the return of disgraced young man Riley Flynn (Zach Gilford), and the arrival of the charismatic Father Paul (Hamish Linklater). The series promises hauntings, potential miracles, and a healthy dose of religious fervour.
"We tend to dislike mysteries. We feel uncomfortable not knowing," Linklater's priest says to Gilford's character in the trailer, as we are shown haunting glimpses of the bleak seaside town. "The more that we know, the less we bend, the more brittle we become, the easier to break."
Flanagan's wife — frequent collaborator and writer/actor Kate Siegel — joins the cast, alongside Rahul Abburi, Crystal Balint, Matt Biedel, Alex Essoe, Annarah Cymone, Annabeth Gish, Rahul Kohli, Kristin Lehman, Robert Longstreet, Igby Rigney, Samantha Sloyan, Henry Thomas and Michael Trucco.
Flanagan created and directed the seven-episode limited series, which he executive produced with Trevor Macy for Intrepid Pictures.
Midnight Mass will debut worldwide on Netflix on September 24.
