Could he be any more sorry? Friends star Matthew Perry has issued a formal apology for the recurring bit in his forthcoming memoir where he makes it seem like he wants fellow actor Keanu Reeves dead.

This was probably not the promotional arc the sitcom sardonicist intended for the excerpts from his new book Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing to bring about, but he makes jokes when he's uncomfortable!

As previously reported, when writing about the deaths of people he was close to in his life (and/or actors River Phoenix and Chris Farley), Perry wrote a line about the injustice of Reeves still walking "among us" that appears a couple of different times, prompting the internet to wonder how he could possibly wish death upon the Canadian actor and essence of wholesomeness.

"I'm actually a big fan of Keanu," Perry said in a statement to Deadline. "I just chose a random name, my mistake. I apologize. I should have used my own name instead."

Yeah, or maybe Chuck Spadina.

All in all, it's clear that this was all an elaborate gag, likely only meant for voracious readers of Chandler Bing in his own words. Choices were and will continue to be made.
