Edie Falco Thought 'Avatar 2' Came Out Years Ago and Flopped

"I didn't hear anything"

Pour one out for Edie Falco, who wrongly assumed a film she was featured in had a flop era. After filming her appearance in Avatar: The Way of Water, she thought that the film came out and had done poorly while she was preoccupied with her other projects.

Speaking in an appearance on The View, the actor told Whoopi Goldberg that she filmed her scenes for the James Cameron sequel four years ago, and because she hadn't heard about it, she assumed that it must have tanked at the box office.

"The second Avatar, the one that's coming out, I think I shot four years ago," said Falco. "And then I've been busy, and doing stuff, and somebody mentioned Avatar, and I thought, 'Oh, I guess it came out and didn't do very well,' because I didn't hear anything."

She added, "And then somebody recently said, 'Avatar is coming out.' Oh, it hasn't come out yet?"

For her short appearance in The Way of Water, Falco plays Frances Ardmore, a new military general on Pandora. Later in the interview, she expressed disappointment for not having played a blue Na'vi character instead.

"Well, I wanted to be blue," she explained. "I was excited, I was going to be blue and very tall. … I didn't get either of those things. But I did get that exoskeleton, and that was pretty darn cool. All of this is so out of the realm of anything I've ever done!"

While she says she hasn't seen the film yet, Falco's Avatar assumptions couldn't be more wrong; Exclaim! gave it a 9/10. We're also happy to see her Avatar cameo come to fruition, unlike her axed reprisal of Carmela Soprano in The Many Saints of Newark
