It seems inevitable that, every few years, news emerges about some recent pop culture event that was eerily foreshadowed years earlier by The Simpsons. It now appears that Disney+ has leaned into the hype and created a playlist of episodes featuring these predictions, for easy access to the show's prognosticatory prowess.
The playlist was first reported by Twitter user Jeremy Conrad. Highlights that appear in the playlist include: "Bart to the Future," the episode that predicted Donald Trump's election to the U.S. presidency 16 years before it happened; 2012's "Lisa Goes Gaga," which featured a Lady Gaga Super Bowl halftime show performance eerily similar to the real-life one that would occur five years later; and 2017's Game of Thrones parody "The Serfsons," which predicted Daenerys Targaryen's dragonback heel turn two years in advance.
It doesn't have everything, of course — notable omissions include the Star Wars vs. Alvin and the Chipmunks box office faceoff, Tycho's Epoch album art, Greta Thunberg's viral UN climate change speech, the Stanley Cup in Las Vegas, Disney purchasing Fox and legal weed in Canada.
