'The Simpsons' Predicted Legal Weed in Canada

At this point, we can assume anything that's happened on The Simpsons will also happen in real life. After all, the show has tried to warn us about everything from the Disney-Fox merger to Tycho album art. As if that weren't enough, the show also somehow knew that weed would become legal in Canada.

Unless you were living under a rock (or simply stoned out of your mind), you probably remember that Canada historically legalized marijuana on Wednesday (October 17). But it's been legal in Matt Groening's version of Canada for at least 13 years.

In the 2005 episode "Midnight Rx," Homer goes to Canada with Ned and Apu. Ned happens upon a Canadian version of himself, complete with chipper demeanour and moustache. The only difference is, the Canadian Ned offers him a puff of "reeferino."

"It's legal here," the Canadian Ned says, much to his American counterpart's horror. Revisit the clip below.
