Woods Announce New Album 'Perennial,' Share Double Single

Hear "Between the Past" and "White Winter Melody"

Prevailing psych-folk outfit Woods have announced their 12th studio album, previewed by the release of two new singles: "Between the Past" and "White Winter Melody."

Perennial arrives September 15 via Woodsist. It follows 2020's Strange to Explain.

The new record is built around a series of loops crafted by the band's Jeremy Earl as a form of meditation on winter nights, and gets its name from his reflection that "perennial plants and flowers are nature's loops." This foundation invited an uncharted approach to collaborative songwriting for Woods. With bandmates Jarvis Taveniere and John Andrews, the songs began to take shape at Earl's home in New York before completion at Panoramic House in Stinson Beach, CA.

Four of the resultant 11 songs are instrumental, like snow-dusted fantasia "White Winter Melody," while the Mellotron-forward "Between the Past" meditates lyrically on the nature of relationships. The latter comes alongside a fittingly kaleidoscopic music video directed by Ian McNaughton, which you can check out below.
