It's certainly been a hell of a summer for photographer/electronic artist Wolfgang Tillmans. After having his "Device Control" used in Frank Ocean's Endless visual album, a remix of another one of his tunes has been unveiled by recently revived witch house outfit Salem.
The Michigan creepers have put a twist on Tillmans's "Make It Up As You Go Along," a song from his 2016/1986 EP. The remix itself is on Tillmans's Device Control collection, which is out digitally, but due for a physical release on September 16.
Salem's redo is big on twitchy digi-snare, dark and breathy vocal tics, and a thick, impermeable wall of synths. This has all been set to a minimalist music video presenting either a natural ebb and flow of an ocean tide or, more sinisterly, an oncoming crawl of tanker crude.
You can check out the remix below. As previously reported, an album of new material from Salem is apparently in the works.
