Witch house is apparently coming back in fashion, as it's been revealed that long-dormant electronic outfit Salem are prepping a new album release.
Though the Michigan-bred combo of John Holland, Heather Marlatt and rapper Jack Donoghue had pretty well left listeners in the lurch following the release of their I'm Still in the Night EP from 2011, an Instagram post from photographer/musician Wolfgang Tillmans explains that the group recently remixed a track of his. The Salem-crafted version of his "Make It Up As You Go Along," which appeared earlier this year on Tillmans' 2016/1986 EP, will be included on a remix set titled Device Control, which is out September 16 via Fragile.
"As expected the mix is super dense, highly abstracted from the original, and has an irresistible magic and pull," Tillmans wrote, adding that Holland and Donoghue did the remix in Montegut, LA, where they're working on a new album.
The unit will also be working on the record in Los Angeles. While info on the LP is scarce beyond that, the as-yet-unnamed album be Salem's first full-length release since 2010's King Night LP.
