Steam Whistle Brewery's Roundhouse is a pretty place to see a show, complete with massive skyline-facing windows. The vistas offer a nice distraction when a murky mix dogs a band. For their part, FemBots soldiered on, to varying degrees of success, despite the terrible sound. Singers Dave MacKinnon and Brian Poirier crooned singalong harmonies to great effect, especially on the gorgeous, disheveled hoedown ballad, "Small Town Murder Scene" (but where was the singing saw?). Similarly, the multi-layered, blues-infused "Lost at Sea" should have succumbed to the shoddy mix, though its swaggering guitar and earnest vocals lifted it above the sound.
