Watch Members of Metallica Cover Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein"

Guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo are set for spooky season

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Oct 29, 2021

Metallica's Kirk Hammett is well-known as a horror fanatic, and just in time for Halloweekend, the guitarist and bandmate Robert Trujillo have come together to cover a monstrous rock classic in Edgar Winter Group's "Frankenstein."

The two Metallica members got together to record the cover as a seasonal greeting from the band's Blackened American Whiskey, so expect a few bottle shots worked in amongst Hammett shredding at home surrounded by Frankenstein faces, and Trujillo laying down low-end in front of a wall of masks. Soon enough, the bassist dons a devilish one of his own.

Lately, Metallica have been celebrating 30 years of their wildly successful self-titled 1991 LP — known best as The Black Album — with a 53-song covers companion that features work from some talented Canadians.
