The Warlocks will be coming to Vancouver tonight (June 5) to play at the Levitation festival, but sadly, their gear won't be coming with them. That's because they got robbed this week while headed up the coast.
Yesterday (June 4), the Los Angeles psych rock band wrote on Facebook that they were in San Francisco when their gear was stolen. There has apparently been a rash of band-related thefts in the city as of late. Frontman Bobby Hecksher wrote:
Gone baby gone! All of our gear got jacked in San Francisco last night. Including my precious Gretsch Black Rose. I guess I'm the idiot for taking such a guitar with me. We are filing police reports and doing all that noise. I think we are like 5-6th band to get robbed in sf in the last few months. My guess it's the same people! Anyways sad day in The Warlocks camp for sure! Fuck!
On the bright side, the theft won't be interrupting the group's tour plans, since they're planning to press ahead with borrowed gear.
For fans who want to help the Warlocks buy new equipment, they have launched an Indiegogo campaign. They're aiming to raise $15,000, and as of press time, they've received a little over $2,000 from donators. They also ask that fans keep a look out in case the gear turns up for sale online.
