Vancouver singer-songwriter Haleluya Hailu has announced her debut EP, and given us a taste of the forthcoming collection with new single "MANIC PIXIE PACIFIST."

eternally, yours is due March 22 through 604 Records. According to press notes, it deals with coming-of-age themes, including mental health, isolation and toxic relationships, and the title was inspired by the 2004 cult classic film, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

“I started exploring the concept of wanting to erase the last two years of my life,” the artist explained in a statement. “Like Eternal Sunshine, I wished I could have my memory erased. But I'm deeply grateful for the person I've become in regards to the amount of trauma that I've had to go through.”

With "MANIC PIXIE PACIFIST," she puts on the facade of not being bothered by a devastating break-up — unlike her ex, who "needed to leave me alone," she added. "Was I just playing a role?" Hailu wonders atop simmering synths, realizing a relationship might have had her doing the heavy lifting in somebody's character development more than anything else.
