It's a tale as old as time in the contemporary music industry: an artist does what anyone would do to potentially signify the beginning of a new era by wiping their social media accounts. With Oasis already definitely (not maybe) reuniting and Linkin Park counting down to nothing (or maybe something?) this week, TV on the Radio have now thrown their hat into the ring with a good old-fashioned digital rebrand.
The band have cleaned out their Instagram, save for one brand-new post with the band's name atop a grainy little grey square with white borders, which they're now also using as their profile image. TV on the Radio have also re-shared it to their Instagram Story, urging fans to sign up for their mailing list to receive updates on whatever might be going on.
Their last album remains 2014's Seeds, but the Brooklyn, NY-formed outfit may heard that the TikTok teens are really into indie sleaze these days. Frontman Tunde Adebimpe has been taking acting roles in the interim, having recently appeared alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell in Twisters. As Stereogum pointed out, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter about the film, Adebimpe teased some music-related news:
I can say that I just wrapped up my own record. And that will be out … in the future. And you … I can say … you might have an opportunity to buy a ticket to something related to that, or something related to TV on the Radio … in a while.
