Trap

BY Vincent PollardPublished Nov 27, 2012

What is it?
A controversial term now referring to two distinct genres. Originally an 808-heavy form of Southern hip-hop made by producers such as Lex Luther, the new EDM-style trap borrows heavily from (or shamelessly appropriates) the former and incorporates elements of dubstep and dance music.

Who's doing it?
TNGHT (pictured), Flosstradamus, Baauer, RL Grime, Dfalt, ƱZ, Munchi.

Where should I start?
Flosstradamus's Total Recall EP, TNGHT's self-titled EP.

What's next?
Expect more crossover between the two sides and look forward to more from Lunice and Hudson Mohawke's TNGHT project and releases on the Mad Decent label.
