Tory Lanez was hit with some serious charges yesterday over the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, but rather than release another full-album response, he's simply given us a tweet.

The Canadian artist took to his Twitter today to respond to the charges, which see him now facing one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. If convicted, he could face nearly 23 years in prison.

"The truth will come to the light," he tweeted, adding: "A charge is not a conviction."

As previously reported, the new felony charges were laid against Lanez on Thursday (October 8) by the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office. They stem from a July 12 incident involving Megan Thee Stallion, with Lanez already facing concealed weapons charges.

Megan Thee Stallion claimed Lanez shot her in the foot following an altercation in his vehicle after the pair left a party in the Hollywood Hills this summer. The LAPD then began investigations into the shooting shortly after the incident.

Megan Thee Stallion has yet to publicly address the latest charges laid against Lanez.
