In the interest of keeping us entertained through the dog days of summer, Live Nation has teamed up with MLSE and OLG to bring another new drive-in venue to Toronto's lakeshore. This one, named the OLG Play Stage, is located in the parking lot adjacent to the city's Budweiser Stage.
Toronto's latest drive-in will not only play host to live music events — Play Stage will also be a hot spot for sports entertainment. This week alone, the venue is set to host the Leafs Game 4 qualifier against the Blue Jackets on Friday (August 7), and its TBD follow-up game on Sunday (August 9). Play Stage will host its first live music event on August 13, with a performance by the Reklaws.
In the coming weeks, the Play Stage is expected to announce performances by Walk Off the Earth and Sam Roberts Band, among other musical acts, as well as a number of forthcoming Raptors games.
Here's a rundown of the events:
For each event you'll park your car in your designated spot and watch the live game from a massive 40-foot screen or live-on-stage for concerts. Ahead of each Leafs and Raptors playoff game, we'll also host a 30-minute pre-game show to get you pumped and award some awesome prizes!
The safety of our fans, artist, crews and staff is our top priority. Our drive-in shows are designed to maximize social distancing, and every event will meet all local health and safety standards, as well as provincial regulations.
Erik Hoffman, president of Live Nation, explained further: "Fans will get a completely unique outdoor concert series that allows fans to enjoy live music again, while socially distanced. We have an incredible line-up scheduled for this summer, allowing fans a reimagined live music experience."
Much like its predecessors, the Play Stage will require guests to adhere to a number of COVID-19 safety protocols, including bringing your own mask and wearing it while outside of your vehicle. Food and non-alcoholic drink vendors will be present, and guests will be able to purchase items via debit and credit.
