TLC Launch Kickstarter Campaign to Fund Final Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jan 19, 2015

We expected TLC to release a new album in 2014, and while that didn't pan out as planned, the reunited '90s R&B hit-makers have now launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the making of their new collection, which is being billed as their final album.

The group now consists of Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas. Assuming that the album is funded, it will be the first record to feature just the two of them; third member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes died in 2002 and appeared posthumously on that year's 3D. TLC haven't released a new studio album since then.

On Kickstarter, the surviving members write that the proposed album "will stay true to the TLC sound." They're seeking a hefty $150,000 to fund the sessions.

From the sound of things, TLC haven't completed much (if any) work on the album. The money they raise will be put towards a writing session in the studio with a producer and engineer. Beyond that, cash will go towards mixing, recording and more.

As always with Kickstarter campaigns, fans can receive rewards depending on their donation. These range from digital albums and exclusive remixes to more extravagant packages including a slumber party with T-Boz, a photo shoot with the band, a listening party with the group, a workout with Chilli and more.

A release date isn't set in stone for the project, but the estimated delivery date for the digital albums in September of 2015.
