The Offspring and Simple Plan have cancelled their 21-date Canadian tour due to the current surge of COVID-19.
The coast-to-coast trek, which was due to begin in Moncton on January 27, was announced last October behind the Offspring's recent album Let the Bad Times Roll — their first in nearly a decade — which assuredly had one of the worst album covers of 2021.
"There's no point in us asking you to come out and see our kick-ass show if there's a chance that everything could shut down at the last minute," the Offspring wrote of the cancellation in a statement. "We're disappointed, but let's get through this mess together. You stay home and we'll stay home, we'll give you your money back and then wait for a better R naught number."
Offspring frontman Dexter Holland, who is also a virologist, offered a science-minded explanation you can find below of why they aren't making the trip North.
"We're working hard to find a new time frame and we'll be back to rock with you guys as soon as we can," the band's statement concludes. "Refunds for ticket purchasers will be processed automatically. Keep an eye out for more info from your point of purchase."
What this ultimately means is more TikTok "shitposting" from Simple Plan's Pierre Bouvier. Find the Offspring and Simple Plan's complete affected itinerary below.
